Membership
The Membership of the society is open to any person who has attained the age of majority and fulfils the terms and conditions of the society but the subject to the approval of the Governing Body of the society.
Note: If the Governing Body of the society does not approve the membership, the reason of refusal shall be communicated to the person/applicant concerned.
1. Admission
- The membership of the Society is open to any person of repute and good conduct, who has attained the age of maturity and is either a doctor or a student pursuing the medical profession and fulfills the rules of the Society, without discrimination of religion, caste, color or creed, subject to the approval of the Governing Body of the Society.
- Persons or Associations, as the case may be, who desire to be enrolled as Member shall apply to the Governing Body of the Society.
- Application for admission to the membership of the Society shall be approved by a majority of members of the Governing Body present at the meeting.
- There shall be three categories of members, viz., life members, annual members and associate members.
- Applications for the Membership may be rejected by the Governing Body, at its sole discretion, without assigning any reasons.
- Acceptance of the applications for admissions shall be communicated to the applicant, within thirty (30) days of approval by the Governing Body.
- Every person shall, on becoming a member of the Society, sign the Roll of Members of the Society to be kept in a bound register.
2. Types of Membership
- Life Members: Qualified medical practitioners with a doctorate in medicine, or persons with a science background having a postgraduate degree or doctorate in any field of science. Life members may stand for elections for the Executive Committee.
- Annual Members: Qualified medical practitioners with bachelors or masters degrees, or persons with a science background having a graduate or postgraduate degree in any field of science.
- Associate Members: Those pursuing medicine as a profession, such as medical students, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and similar fields.
3. Admission Fee and Subscription
- Life Members: ₹15,000 one-time fee.
- Annual Members: ₹1,000 per year, payable before 31st March for the subsequent year.
- Associate Members: ₹500 per year, payable before 31st March for the subsequent year.
- Corporate Members: ₹30,000 per year, with eligibility for representation in the Executive Committee.
4. Termination or Cessation of Membership
The Governing Body has powers to terminate membership for reasons such as death, resignation, insolvency, criminal activity, anti-society propaganda, non-payment of fees, or non-attendance of meetings.
5. Rights and Privileges of Members
- Participation in meetings, cultural/educational functions, and other gatherings.
- Right to collect an official Identity card after fulfilling requirements.
